Dealing With Difficult People

You've read the books, attended the IIBA meetings, gone through your diagnostic modeling and active listening techniques and still you face difficult people who are just not interested in what you have to sell. Despite our best efforts Business Analysts will often run into “difficult people”.  The fist step is to forget the term “difficult people” – try to think in terms of challenges to overcome or resistance to ideas and communication. 

Remember theories X and Y? 

Based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, theories X and Y are human motivation models created by Douglas McGregor at the MIT Sloan School of Management in the 1960’s.
