Leadership, Management and the Practice of Business Analysis  |  Managing Your Career For Tomorrow

When you perform your business analysis practice, do you recognize that you are engaging in leadership and management to successfully achieve your purpose in the engagement?

Evolving Your Leadership and Management Skills

The July Speaker Series Meetup focuses on leadership and management practices and the business analysis practice and practitioner.

You already perform leadership and management in your business analysis practice. It's parts are called many things; communication, conflict resolution, prioritizing, collaboration, life cycle management, leading a discussion, systems thinking, decision making, appeasement, and more.

Influences On The Business Analysis Role

Part of the business analysis evolution is the shift in business analysis roles to more analysis and communication. This requires more social intelligence, more social interaction, and certainly more creativity. This requires leadership and management. This goes by titles such as product analyst, and happens in many methodologies, such as waterfall, lean or agile environments.

Technology - digitalization, automation, and AI - are moving the business analysis role into some areas and away from other areas of the business analysis practice. Technology has and will continue to assume some roles in the business analysis practice.

Where Is Leadership and Management Going?

Leadership and management has always been part of the business analysis role for many practitioners and practices. But this evolution continues.

Leadership and management can occur as a transaction in a project, iteration, or product life cycle. It can also exist as a result of culture or a job description. And leadership and management can be successfully cultivated by practitioners and or their practice sponsor over time.

Learn, Pivot, Manage Your Career

Often times, the business analysis practitioner is not certain of their roles and opportunities beyond some core role functions.

We start today with what is in our reach. We will discuss our current skills, how they vary among us, and what is trending in business analysis leadership and management roles. We will conclude with what actions are available to you now and in the near future.

The meetup will include a presentation with the main focus on the group discussion. A panel may be included.

Start with what you already do. Join in the discussion.
